In the early morning hours, we depart from designated points and begin our bus journey to Bursa. After a breakfast stop along the way, we arrive in Bursa, which came under Turkish rule in 1326 by Orhan Bey and served as the capital of the Ottoman Empire for a period. In this beautiful city built at the foothills of Uludağ, known as Mysia Olympus with an elevation of 2543 meters, our first stop is the Ulu Cami, recognized as Turkey's largest mosque. Construction of the building, commissioned by the Ottoman Sultan Yıldırım Bayezid, began in 1396 and was completed in 1399. The mosque features two minarets and rises on octagonal drums, boasting a total of 20 domes. Inside the Ulu Cami, notable motifs and intricate designs adorn the interior walls and the pulpit, while legends recount that Prophet Khidr (peace be upon him) once prayed there.
On the eastern facade of the Ulu Cami's pulpit, a section depicting the solar system stands out as a special detail that captivates visitors. The presence of such advanced knowledge from centuries ago within the mosque leaves those who visit in awe. Next, we proceed to the Tophane neighborhood to visit the tombs of Osman Bey, the founder of the Ottoman Empire, and his son Orhan Bey. After photographing the clock tower, completed in 1906, which stands six stories tall and reaches a height of 25 meters, we enjoy our lunch. Afterwards, we set off towards Uludağ, the highest mountain in the Marmara Region. Following a break for free time and rest in the hotel district, we begin our return journey later in the day. We return to Istanbul in the evening via the Bursa-Gemlik-Orhangazi-Yalova-Topçular ferry route and through Gebze, bidding farewell to our esteemed guests until our next tour.
