Byzantine and Ottoman Monuments Tour (Full Day)
Duration 8 Hour
After picking you up from your hotel (hotels in the city center), we will start our tour. The places we will visit are Dolmabahçe Palace, Dolmabahçe Palace Garden, and Bezm-i Alem Valide Sultan Mosque.
Dolmabahçe Palace, built between 1843-1856 by architect Karabet Dalyan for Sultan Abdulmecid, presents a mixture of different European architectural styles. It has 285 rooms, 46 halls, 6 bathrooms (hammams), and 68 toilets. Its magnificent and of course original decorations, furniture, silk carpets, curtains, and other embellishments are dazzling. Dolmabahçe Palace served as the main administrative center of the Ottoman Empire from 1856 to 1922.
Bezm-i Alem Mosque, completed by Sultan Abdulmecid, the son of Bezm-i Alem Valide Sultan, is also known as Dolmabahçe Mosque. It was opened for worship after its completion in 1851. It was used as a naval museum for a period between 1948-1961. It is still open for worship today.
