After picking up our guests from the designated points in the morning, we begin our pleasant journey to Taraklı. After breakfast here, we set out to discover Taraklı, one of the most elegant reflections of Ottoman civil architecture. Our first stop is the Culture House. In this house, one of the district’s carefully restored precious buildings, we see fabric weaving looms, the iron and wrought-iron art crafted by the Gypsies, the works of Saim Özel, the famous calligrapher born in Taraklı, and local costumes. Then, continuing our tour, we visit the Historic Inn, located on the Silk Road and once a resting place for caravans in the past. After that, we tour Çakırlar Mansion and the Old Governor’s Mansion, distinguished examples of civil architecture in the district. Later, we see the Yunus Pasha Mosque, commissioned by Yunus Pasha, the Grand Vizier of Yavuz Sultan Selim, to Mimar Sinan, as well as the Kurşunlu Mosque and the Historic Bath used for underfloor heating in this mosque. Afterwards, we tour the five-century-old Historic Plane Tree planted during the Ottoman period and the Rüştiye School, which provided education from the Ottoman era to the Republic.
After our Taraklı tour, we head to Lake Çubuk. Formed when a landslide descending from Kayabaşı Hill blocked the valley, Lake Çubuk is a fascinating natural area surrounded by pine forests and notable for the windmills built for film shooting. After seeing and photographing the lake, we continue to Göynük.
In Göynük, the land of Akşemseddin, the mentor of Fatih Sultan Mehmed and the man who found the tomb of Eyüp Sultan, we first visit the Gazi Süleyman Pasha Bath and Mosque, then the Tomb of Akşemseddin. Later, we ascend the Victory Tower, where we will enjoy panoramic views of the city. After taking plenty of photos here, we begin our return journey to Istanbul and bid farewell to our guests, hoping to meet again on another tour.
